Creative Use of Flight Sim Visuals in Aviation Art

The use of Game visuals to produce "Digital Art" is a technique which has gained considerable acceptance by, and praise from, many professional artists. A member of the flightsim community, Antonis Karidis (screenname rOEN911) has advanced the technique, using Flight sim screen captures as raw source visuals, then applying a variety of extensive modifications, augmentations, and other "tweaks" to create true Works of Art, comparable to the paintings of professional and highly renowned aviation artists. At his Gallery, one can find sample tutorials on how he produces his Digital Aviation Art.

In the video below, "Clash in Skies", Antonis visually presents one of his art pieces as a work-in-progress, focusing on the parts which ultimately make up the whole. In the process, with the use of camera panning and zooming techniques often referred to as the "Ken Burns Effect", and with the addition of a musical soundtrack, he creates a 'sense' of Action, of Movement, even a degree of "Emotion". This Video is not a "Movie", per se, as are all the other movies at FSM, but deserves recognition for its truly unique nature.
